People say that you can’t wear white before memorial day, but should you wear it after?

And, at this time of year, when the sun starts to shine high in the sky again, birds are beginning to sing again and green grass is shooting up from the drab ground, we often tend to turn to light or bright colors to keep cool and mimic the life happening around us. Ditch the white and wear big, bold and bright colors to complement the spring in our step and the rebirth that we instinctively feel going on all around us.

Bright colors, either alone or in combination with each other will not only buoy our own spirits but will help to lift others as well. Wherever we are our moods affect those around us and vice versa. Why not be a positive impact and send feelings of joy through color? Really, when you see someone wearing the same old, same old, coffee or gray or (gulp) even monotone black, day after day, and you come to expect to see “them” in that same drab couture every day, isn’t it like a parade is marching through when you see them step out of their rut and wear something seasonal and just va-va-voom?

Remember this the next time you are readying to face the day. How you feel about yourself is definitely mirrored in the choice of the color clothing you wear and that choice of clothing, likewise, mirrors the state of your chi at that moment as well. Wearing bright colors not only mirrors your mood but could help instill the same chi in others. Now, on the couture contrare, if you are feeling a wee bit under the proverbial weather and really can’t muster a multi-colored Missoni, that still doesn’t mean that you have to roll in rocket gray. Never let them see you sweat and try not to let them see you shrouded in your subdued energies. At least pull on a brightly colored solid sweater to shake off the blues. If you are feeling like summer IS the time to wear white, there’s no need to fear just pick out some brightly colored and patterned accessories and skirts to give your outfit a boost.

Remember, the next time you need a lift, open the closet, bring out the brightest color you can find and raise your spirits and the spirits of those around you. Orange will bring that boost immediately as will as a touch of red or even light and bright kelly green. Bright golds and yellows, the color of Emperors, Kings and most spring flowers will grow your money and your mood and, well, black, if you feel chic and savvy will say that same thing about you to everyone you meet. Take stock of the colors that comprise your wardrobe and then watch your values soar!
